Project Description

The nearly 8-acre site was formerly home to Sears, Roebuck & Co., where older Norfolk residents may recall taking their washers and lawn mowers for repairs. Sears sold the property to General Foam Plastics Corp. in 1983. General Foam, which creates plastics goods such as lawn Santas and kiddie pools, currently uses the large brick building for storage. The 41,179-square-foot store is expected to employ 95 people, said Chuck Richards, market manager for Wal-Mart.
